electrocardiographic study of 50 healthy markhoz goats ranging from less than 1 to more than 3 years inage was carried out. the heart rate varied from 99 to 123 beats/min with a mean of 110 beats/min. there wasa significant difference between the heart rate of goats in 3 age groups (pt waves and qt interval in base apex lead, qrs wave in lead i, p-r and pq interval in avf lead were higherand duration of qrs and t waves in avr lead, p wave in lead iii, pq and p-r intervals in lead ii and qtinterval in avr lead were lower than those in the other leads. the mean duration of qt interval hadsignificant changes with age (p

Changes in electrocardiographic, hematologic and biochemical indices of Markhoz goat breed in experimental hypocalcemia

Background: Milk fever in cattle, sheep and goats occurs  around the time of parturition and is caused by hypocalcemia. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the physiological effects of experimental hypocalcemia on electrocardiography, hematology and serum biochemical changes in Markhoz goat breed. METHODS: Ethylene diamine tetra- acetate solution 4.6% was intravenously infused ...

Optimal electrocardiographic limb lead set for rapid emphysema screening

BACKGROUND Pulmonary emphysema of any etiology has been shown to be strongly and quasidiagnostically associated with a vertical frontal P wave axis. A vertical P wave axis (>60 degrees) during sinus rhythm can be easily determined by a P wave in lead III greater than the P wave in lead I (bipolar lead set) or a dominantly negative P wave in aVL (unipolar lead set). The purpose of this investiga...

Evaluation of cardiac troponin I (cTnI), electrocardiography, creatine kinase (CK) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in diagnosis of selenium deficiency in Markhoz goat kids breed

BACKGROUND: Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) is known as a cardiac biomarker in determining the myocardial damage of diseases which affect the heart muscle. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to evaluate the serum cTnI concentration in Markhoz Breed goats suffering selenium (Se) deficiency and its correlation with electrocardiographic parameters, and activity of creatine kinase (CK) and aspartate aminotransf...
